We had a very restless night of sleep.  I assume our bodies are adjusting to the 13 hour time difference.  We woke up at 6 AM and decided to get going for the day.  We walked to Tsui Wah for breakfast.  We both had the satay beef, which was basically beef ramen.  It came with toast and scrambled eggs.  Bart ordered the milk tea and I had the coffee.  It was a pretty great breakfast minus the eggs, which were too slimy.  Then we walked around Kowloon park.  It was by far the best city park we have been to.  We enjoyed watching the locals work out because they have very different workout routines than Americans.  We saw multiple people walking backwards, doing strange arm workouts while walking, meditating, and dancing.  The park had a bird aviary, duck pond, flamingo pond, multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, badminton courts, kids play area, and huge gardens.  Then we walked to the waterfront where we saw some amazing views of the city overlooking Kowloon Bay.  After that we made our way to the Temple street area.  We stopped at various different stores and were very entertained by all the new items.  We tried Hong Kong's famous egg tarts.  We decided to go to Tim Ho Wan for lunch.  We bought an octopus card and jumped on the train.  Tim Ho Wan is one of the cheapest places to eat in the world that has received a Michelin rating.  We ordered baked buns with BBQ pork, vermicelli roll with pork, and steamed pork and shrimp dumplings.  We were underwhelmed, but happy to have tried a few different items.  We took the train back to the hostel to rest our tired feet from the many miles we put on.  After a 3 hour nap we headed to the Tim Sha Tsui neighborhood to watch the light show over Hong Kong Island.  The cityscape was pretty impressive.  Then we walked to the Temple Street Market.  We stopped at Mammy Pancake to try the well known egg waffle.  It was really good.  We walked through the market and then ate at a busy restaurant next to the market.  We tried the curry fish balls, vermicelli noodles with green onion, white onion, and sprouts, and their famous spicy crab.  We also enjoyed a couple of beers.  We made small talk with a nice family next to us from Mongolia.  Then we walked back to the hostel for the night.  We are overall enjoying the city.  Everyone has been so nice and the food has been delicious.  The only downfalls are the small bed, small blanket, and small steps.

We woke up at 1 AM to prepare for our 2 AM departure from my Dad's house.  My Dad and his friend Doug took us to the Minneapolis airport.  Thanks for the ride!  We were flying standby and were super happy to get on the first flight to Dallas at 5 AM.  We had a short layover and then we were off to Hong Kong.  It was a long 16 hour flight and we were happy to have it over.  We took the Airport Express Railway from the airport to Ashoka Hostel.  On the way we witnessed a truck run a red light and smash into a taxi.  We also didn't know that their steering wheel is on the right side of the car and they drive on the left side of the road, which is opposite of the rest of China.  The Ashoka Hostel is in a building called Chunking Mansions.  It took some work to find the hostel.  The sign by the elevator lead us to the 16th floor.  We got on the wrong elevator since one elevator goes to even numbers and the other odd numbers.  On the 16th floor there a sign told us to go to the 13th floor.  We found some nasty back staircases that lead us there.  Once we checked in, they told us to take a different elevator to the 8th floor.  We were greeted by another man, brought down a random hallway and given our key.  This key turns everything on and off in the room.  It must be plugged in for the electricity to work, which must save them a ton of money.  Our room also came with used flip flops...gross.  We showered and then headed out for dinner.  We ate at Shek Kee Wonton Noodles and it was awesome.  We sat with the locals and enjoyed our food.  I had the pork dumpling noodle bowl and Bart had the fish ball and wonton noodle bowl.  We both put two scoops of chili oil in our soup and we paid for it.  My mouth was on fire.  We went back to the hostel to get some sleep and to rest our swollen feet.
