August 17-18th Italy

by - August 22, 2019

On the 17th we left the Airbnb very early to make it to the town of Parma for our parmigiano reggiano tour.  We found the tour to be very informative and we loved all the tastings.  After the tour we drove to a small town where we stayed on a hobby farm in their shabby chic trailer.  They had donkeys, deer, cows, horses, goats, a mule, turkeys, chickens, pigs, and a big garden.  We also drove to a nearby wooded park and walked around.  On the 18th we drove to the Dolomites in northern Italy to do our first hike.  They turn the ski slopes into hiking trails all over the Dolomites.  It was beautiful, but a bit crowded.  The Dolomites in general are crowded as it is the busiest time for summer vacation, which means it is extremely expensive.  We are struggling to stay on budget up here.  After the 3 hour hike we rented equipment for our Via Ferrata the next day and then checked into our Airbnb.  We went out for pizza for dinner.
