April 10th Hong Kong, China

by - April 11, 2019

We woke up super early again.  We went to Kai Kee Restaurant for breakfast.  I tried the beef with macaroni in tomato soup this time and Bart got the beef ramen again.  They both came with a bun and scrambled eggs.  We also ordered a pineapple bun, which is a popular food item in Hong Kong.  We both really liked it.  It gets its name from its appearance, not because it is made with pineapple.  We both ordered the iced milk tea.  Then we walked to the Star Ferry port.  We met a couple from South Africa on the way there and helped them with the ferry process.  After a short ferry ride we arrived on Hong Kong Island.  We walked up the hill to get to the tram that takes you to a peak that provides an amazing view of the city.  The tram was on a super big incline all the way up.  Then we walked around Hong Kong Park.  After that we went to Din Tai Fung for lunch.  It is another restaurant with a Michelin star.  We ordered the tossed, sliced cucumber with chili and garlic, steamed pork dumplings(xio long boa), the noodle with spicy sesame and peanut sauce(Taiwan style dan dan mian), and steamed pork buns.  Then we rode the longest outdoor escalator in the world.  We were pretty beat so we rode the ferry back to the mainland.  We stopped for a beer on the way back to the hostel.  I'm not proud to say it, but we fell asleep at 5:30 PM and didn't get up until 3 AM.
