June 12th

We have become very fond of Puerto Jimenez.  Therefore, we have decided to stay a couple more nights.  It is so relaxing here.  There is all sorts of wildlife around.  We see scarlet macaws and parates flying about.  We are also loving La Palapa.  We have rented a tent with a huge air matress.  It comes with a fan and an outdoor shower.  We practically have the place to ourselves.  It has become very homey for us.  There is a kitchen for us to cook in and the staff are all so friendly.

We went to the same Panaderia for breakfast since it is inexpensive and has a great variety of food.
Bart went fishing and swimming and I spent the day relaxing, working on the blog, and grocery shopping for dinner.  One of the staff picked star fruit from the tree and made me a nice drink.
Henry stopped by La Palapa so we could pay him for the tour.  He invited us to a night tour to look for frogs and other wildlife.  I made an early dinner an then we met him and the others at 6 PM at Surcos Tours.
It was Nito, the owner, Henry, Elise from Holland, Paola, Bart, and I.  We walked around the outskirts of the town.  We couldn't believe all the wildlife we saw.  The guides, especially Henry, have such a good eye for this!  Frogs, snakes, crocodile, birds, and insects.  I was shocked to see a crocodile so close to town.

We went to the Panaderia for breakfast and made mango, banana, and organs smoothies.  We cannot get enough of the fresh fruit here.

We chilled and worked on the blog/videos for most of the day.  Bart made fish tacos for dinner.
Then we went fishing.  We caught a couple red snappers that we kept for a snack.

We bought cereal for breakfast.  It's funny the things we have been craving.  I've been wanting mashed potatoes and skyline chili and Bart has been craving cereal and a good burger.  We ran some errands and then went swimming.  The high tide got away from us and we lost half our stuff to the Pacific Ocean.  We made smoothies again for lunch.  We spent a good amount of time getting ready for Panama.  The border rules are really strict and we have read that it's complete chaos in Paso Canoas so we want to be very prepared.  When traveling there you must show proof that you are leaving.  Apparently a bus ticket back is not sufficient and sometimes a plane ticket into another country isn't either.  We basically are buying a ticket to the US and then canceling it once we cross the border.  You also need to show proof that you each have $500.  Most of the time a credit card is sufficient, but sometimes it isn't.  So we had to print out bank statements as well.  If this works, we will be doing this a couple more times depending on the country.  We finished all of our fruit for dinner and added some tequila to our smoothies.  Early rise at 4 to catch the first water taxi to Golfito.
