May 28th

 On the patio we had cappuccino with chocolate made from the cacao plants at Utopia.  We packed our day bag for our trek to Semuc Champey.  It took us about an hour to walk there.  Once there, we did the 45 minute hike to the scenic overlook.  



What a view!  I was glad to get a shot without people swimming in it.  We also saw a couple monkeys in the trees.  Then we spent the next few hours swimming and exploring the many pools.  It is spring water fed so it was so cold and refreshing.  We absolutely loved it.  







The walk back was pretty hot and uncomfortable since it was in the middle of the day.  We went swimming in the river to cool off when we got back to our campsite.  We went on a walk around the property to see the cacao plants and the rest of the land.  Utopia has a chocolate making tour that we did not do, but would have if we had it in our budget.  The communal dinner was fried pasta, salad, and banana bread.  The food did not set well with anyone judging by the smell radiating from the  bathrooms....
